2 CONT "Exeter was supposed to be where the MANUELs' came from. Yet the boats were apparently registered in the Channel Islands, and William, who crossed the bar in the Poole area, actually sailed out of Yarmouth. Yarmouth, Jersey & Exeter are hardly in the same zip code. I asked the records office in Devonshire some years ago, why would boats out of Devon, Cornwall or Hampshire, be registered in the Channel Islands. They intimated that Privateers often did this. I can hardly see the MANUELs' as pirates, crossing Swords & Cutlasses over Cod Fish"

2 CONT At the home of Samuel MANUEL, Exploits burnt Island. Nov 3, 1844 Robert Dart and Miss Elizabeth MANUEL were married. A Joseph MANUEL, Samuel MANUEL and Andrew MANUEL were witnesses. Elizabeth was probably the daughter of Samuel MANUEL, and sister of Andrew MANUEL. Elizabeth married (2) 1875 at the age of 50 to John HAINES, she died Feb 6, 1892 Exploits age 67 yrs. Robert was bap may 22, 1823 twill, the son of Robert and Ann Dart.
